The Light…

Not the light that you might be thinking of…the perfect light, golden light, natural light, or even moody light…no I’m dreaming of the light at the end of the tunnel! All businesses have trends…ebbs and flows…of busy times, crazy busy times, and then there are those times when you can sit back and relax a bit because you’re finished. I’m looking forward to that wonderful window of time this year. I’ve promised my family that I would take off the month of December and just be with them…ressurecting Christmas traditions that I’ve allowed to get swallowed up the past couple of years by busy-ness. I can’t wait for December to come! I can’t wait to bake cookies, make my oh-so-yummy homemade apple butter, make little gift baskets for people that I love, I can’t wait to actually wrap gifts this year (instead of throwing everything into bags on Christmas Eve)…I can’t wait to go on our annual Christmas light drive where we pile into the Suburban with dinner and blankets and pillows and Starbucks in our jammies and sing to Christmas music – and this year I’m leaving my iPhone at home! There are so many family traditions that have been neglected in the past few years while my business has taken on a manic state during the months of November and December…so this year I’ve fought hard to protect December for them, for me…and so far it’s looking like I’ll be able to accomplish my goal despite the frantic pace at which I am working right now. Things are super busy around here…and the blog has been sorely neglected in the process. There just hasn’t been time…editing has taken on a life of it’s own…but, the light is still there…shining brightly right on the other side of a golden roasted Turkey…and I can almost taste it! I’m looking forward to a wonderful faith-filled Christmas this year…and I hope that you are too!

In the meantime…I will continue to post as I can. I was finishing up editing a session this morning (one that I am sorely behind on – S., you have the patience of a thousand saints!) and I came across this image that I just really liked and I thought I would take a minute amidst the craziness and say “hi” to ya’ll and share it with you. I don’t often post black and white images on my blog…I’m not really sure why…but, this one just made me smile.

***I’ve been receiving a lot of inquiries from people wanting a session before the end of the year…and I’ve been scheduling several for January because I’ve been booked for the rest of the year for weeks now. However, I did just have a date open up due to a client traveling last minute…so I have a rare 2009 opening if anyone would like to take it. The date is this Friday the 13th at 4pm. It’s the only remaining spot I will have available for the rest of the year (except for newborn sessions – which I always fit into my schedule). So…email me and it’s yours.

‘Til Next Time!

Oooooo! I think you should show black and whites more often! This is simply gorgeous. What a beautiful, beautiful couple! I’m so glad to hear that you are taking December off with your family. You are an inspiration to me in many ways!

Good for you and your family! I’m proud of you for making this commitment to them for the holidays. It’s very hard to do and they are only young once. You’ll be a happier mommy & business woman because of it! Thanks for your great example!
